The VP Globe pendant light is one of Verner Panton’s most iconic designs from 1969–1970. The transparent spherical form reflects his fascination with new materials as well as his conviction that the light source should never be directly visible. The result is a luminaire that looks futuristic and at the same time creates exceptionally pleasant ambient light.
The outer shell consists of a clear acrylic sphere enclosing a complex system of reflectors and diffusing elements. The individual glass components are suspended on steel chains, allowing the light to reflect and filter through several layers. This composition ensures soft, indirect illumination without glare, while creating a dynamic interplay of light, colour and reflections.
The 50 cm diameter gives the light a more monumental character and allows it to stand out in larger rooms with higher ceilings. It is ideal above a larger dining table, in an open living space, or in representative commercial interiors. It works beautifully as a standalone piece, but also in installations of multiple units, where it creates a rhythmic and visually playful composition.
The VP Globe pendant light is available in several additional sizes and material finishes.
