Vitra Eames Chairs and Bar Stools

Brand: Vitra Designer: Charles & Ray Eames

Vitra's Eames Chair was introduced in the 1950s by designers Charles and Ray Eames. Nowadays, it is considered an icon of modern design and one of the most desirable design pieces ever.

In 1950, the Eames Chair was introduced as the first mass-produced fiberglass chair. It was the result of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, who sought to design a chair from a single piece of plastic that would adapt perfectly to the human body while offering high quality.

Thanks to its multifunctionality and the uniqueness of its material, the Eames chair has become a pioneer of modern design. Soon, several types of shells and bases were introduced, offering endless possibilities for using the chairs within a home, an office, and public spaces.

Today Vitra manufactures the seat shells of the iconic chairs in polypropylene. However, the original version of the Eames Fiberglass Chair produced in glass-fibre reinforced polyester resin is also available.  DesignVille offers several types of seat and base combinations:

  • DAR (Dining Arm Chair Rod) – armrests, steel base
  • DSX (Dining Side Chair X-Base) – without armrests, steel base
  • DAW (Dining Arm Chair Wood) – armrests, wooden base
  • DSR (Dining Side Chair Rod) – without armrests, steel base
  • DSW (Dining Side Chair Wood) - without armrests, wooden base
  • RAR (Rocking Arm Chair Rod) – rocking chair with armrests
  • DKR (Dining K-Wire Rod) - wire shell, steel base
  • DKR-2 - wire shell with seat and back pad
