The Wire lamp collection is among Verner Panton’s most distinctive designs from the early 1970s. It was conceived as an experiment with steel wire and its structural as well as visual potential. Here, Panton works with an open structure defined by lightness of form and clear geometry, where light itself becomes the main protagonist of the space.
The base of the lamps consists of a chrome-plated steel wire construction composed of fine concentric lines. This transitions into an opal hemispherical shade made of acrylic, which gently diffuses the light. An integrated metal reflector directs the light source into the shade, creating a pleasant ambient atmosphere without harsh glare. The contrast between the industrial metal and the softly glowing dome is a defining feature of the entire series.
The collection includes table, floor and portable versions, united by a striking silhouette and visual lightness. Wire lamps work beautifully in living rooms, bedrooms, hotel lobbies and contemporary office spaces.
