Designed in 1952 by architect Arne Jacobsen the stackable Ant chair is one of the most distinctive icons of Danish design. Design: beige lacquered veneer with no visible wood grain. Base: black.

The Ant chair was designed for Novo Nordisk's canteen by Arne Jacobsen. He wanted to create a lightweight, stackable chair that would not interfere with the one's legs. The shape of the seat is reminiscent of an ant with its head raised, therefore the name Ant. The collection is manufactured by Fritz Hansen. After launch, the visionary design met with an initial dose of skepticism, but production continued after Jacobsen guaranteed to buy every unsold piece himself.

The design proved its worth over time; the Ant chair now sells by the millions, and its unmistakable design has become one of the most distinctive chair designs ever.
