The Cone Chair collection ranks among Verner Panton’s most distinctive designs and remains just as confident today as it was at the time of its creation in the late 1950s. The characteristic cone-shaped form, from which a comfortably upholstered shell emerges, became the foundation for two iconic versions – Cone Chair and Heart Cone Chair. While they differ in the silhouette of the backrest, both share the same architectural core.
Originally created as part of the radically conceived interior of the Kom Igen restaurant, both lounge chairs already demonstrated Panton’s ability to combine experimentation with everyday comfort. Today, they function as timeless statement pieces, adding character to an interior without the need for additional bold elements.
The lounge chair body is made from glass fibre reinforced plastic and fully upholstered with polyurethane foam padding. The seat is designed as a separate, replaceable element. Stability is provided by a slender cross base in stainless steel, which enhances the lightness of the overall construction while ensuring structural strength.
Both Cone Chair and Heart Cone Chair work beautifully in living rooms, studies or reading corners, as well as in hotel lobbies, lounge bars and representative office spaces. A wide range of upholstery options allows the chairs to be easily adapted to a specific interior.
