Research by the Institute of Biomechanics at ETH Zurich (one of the most respected universities in the world) has shown that ID chairs use their full movement potential.
Tests on an electromyograph (which monitors the biosignals coming from the muscles) showed that people who sit on ID chairs intuitively activate the central muscles in the lower back and lower abdomen. This is because the back of the chair leans forward, forcing the sitter to resist the pressure. This stimulates metabolism and stabilizes the lumbar spine.
