Arne Jacobsen (1902 -1971) was a prominent and renowned Danish architect and designer who was a major influence on the field of architecture and design through the middle of the 20th century. His design icons include the Ant chair, Series 7, Egg and Swan armchairs. Beautiful, timeless pieces by Arne Jacobsen that you can find in the DesignVille store include the elegant Mayor So fa or the Bellevue lamp collection.
Arne Jacobsen has also been designing smaller objects - his portfolio includes cutlery sets, crockery and wallpaper. In 1937, he also created beautiful typography, with morphology inspired by the Bauhaus era. His fondness for sharp angles and bevels is typical of Jacobsen - you can see it on the Bellevue lamps and on Jacobsen's alphabet.
Danish brand Design Letters recently got permission to bring these hand sketches of Jacobsen's to life, and the beautiful letters are now coming to life on porcelain mugs, plates, designer linens and stylish office objects. Even after 75 years since its inception, Arne Jacobsen's typography looks incredibly modern and fresh, don't you think?
