The Turbo pendant lamp was designed by Louis Weisdorf in 1965, but production did not begin until two years later. The light is an example of design at its best: simple in form but complex in structure, it combines a sense of airiness and power in an appealing sculptural whole. In designing it, Weisdorf was inspired by the lightness of Japanese rice paper, which he transformed into a more durable version. The outer curve of the lamp is formed by twelve identical aluminium lamellas that are spirally twisted and connected to hold the shape of a ball.
