Thomas Alva Edison (1847–1931) was an American inventor who held more than 1,000 patents. His best-known inventions include the phonograph and, above all, the practical incandescent light bulb.

He also helped to found the journal Science, which is still published today. At DesignVille you can buy decorative Edison light bulbs, which the Danish company Danlamp still makes as a tribute to the famous inventor.
