Born in Düsseldorf, Lars Tornøe spent part of his childhood in Germany, later moving to Norway with his parents. There he studied design at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design. The beginnings of his career are characterized by collaborations with other creators. We can mention, for example, the success of the duo Tveit & Tornøe. Later, Tornøe embarked on a path of independent work and founded his own design studio.
Studio Lars Tornøe operates in the field of furniture design and other related design products. With the importance of a distinctive expression of each item, he creates objects that often allow for multiple uses and thus leave room for creativity. The collection created in collaboration with Muuto is a perfect example. The Dots can serve as hangers, handles or create a purely decorative arrangement.
The Norwegian designer has gained recognition all over the world. Tornøe’s work has also received several awards such as the Norwegian Designer of the Year or the Award for Design Excellence.
