Hee Welling opened his first studio in Copenhagen in 2003. He has received several awards, including the Bo Bedre Award, the Good Design Award, and has been twice nominated for Danish Designer in 2013 and 2014.
Hee Welling's father was a carpenter, so his love of design started to emerge in his childhood. He studied at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and then continued at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he obtained his master's degree. He approaches his designs with the idea of creating technically advanced products that can interest a wide spectrum of people. His works are characterized by sensitively chosen proportions and elegant simple aesthetics.
His furniture has found a place in the Australian Parliament, the Oslo Opera House, Amazon's main office or the Danish Parliament.
Among his best-known designs is the extensive range of AAC chairs for the HAY brand, which also includes armchairs and bar stools. Hee's collection of minimalist garden furniture is also very popular. The DesignVille website also features Patch folding tables created for &Tradition.
