Claesson Koivisto Rune

Sweden

Designers Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune were united by a shared desire to create spaces and objects in perfect harmony. Together in the 1995, they founded a design studio in the Swedish capital bearing their names: Claesson Koivisto Rune.

At the beginning of their collaboration, the creators, who first met while studying at Stockholm University College of Arts, focused on architecture. However, little by little, Claesson Koivisto Rune become an internationally-acclaimed, multi-disciplinary office with an equal emphasis on both architecture and design. Lighting, textiles, furniture, or even hotels, shops, office and exhibition spaces and homes – all of these are among the areas in which the Swedish studio excels.

The designers have created products for more than 80 brands, including Iittala, Muuto or Engblad & Co. At DesignVille, you can find opal glass Fluid pendant lamps by Muuto.

Initially, the studio was associated primarily with Nordic minimalism. However, describing the work of Claesson Koivisto Rune today is not that simple. The style of the designers is constantly evolving, as they themselves claim "without a clear direction". Nevertheless, their work is consistent, with influences of such architecture and design giants as Arne Jacobsen or Alvar Aalto.

Claesson Koivisto Rune was the first Swedish architectural company to exhibit at the Venice Biennale in 2004. It holds many prestigious awards as well.
