interior designer: Nicole Macháčková

The owners of the newly renovated villa in North Bohemia wanted to unify and soften the interior and give it an atmosphere that will be pleasant even many years from now. The result is a quiet, soft and timeless space from the hands of interior designer Nicole Macháčková.

The main direction and requirement of the homeowners was a non-toxic household and maximum honest materials. The whole house is thus made up of solid wood, walnut veneer infused with eco-friendly varnish, real stone and textiles with a high proportion of natural fibres.

Using a palette of soft warm tones, rounded lines and natural light work, the Nicole Macháčková created a unified visual thread that connected all the rooms. The interior uses a combination of walnut wood and Millenium Cream granite, which work well together to create an elegant yet cosy atmosphere.

From the DesignVille portfolio, the interior features design pieces from &Tradition such as the In Between coffee table in smoked oiled oak, the Flowerpot VP9 portable lamp, the Bonnet wall light and the Pavilion dining chair. From New Works, you can see the Karl-Johan table lamp, the Collect pendant lights from Ferm Living and, from Audo, the ingenious Hana vase with holes to arrange individual flower stems perfectly.

Apricot accent in the living area

The living room is dominated by a generous sofa and coffee table in an apricot shade, complemented by the aforementioned In Between side table from &Tradition. The apricot colour became a subtle characteristic accent of the interior, which the designer chose as an echo of Renata Machýčková's painting.

The artwork stands out in the interconnected hallway above the chest of drawers in the same pastel shade, with which the dark plum colour of the Flowerpot portable lamp by Verner Panton also blends well.

A custom-designed bookcase in walnut veneer added depth and functionality to the space. With a few natural material accessories, books and ambient light from the Karl-Johan lamp, it retains an airy feel and the walnut wood grain stands out. The light fabrics, beige squeegee and warm wood tones allowed the designer to create an interior that feels continuous and extremely calming.

A stone island as a sculptural element

The kitchen is seamlessly connected to the living area, but this does not prevent it from having its own character. The work surface is made of natural Millennium Cream granite, whose fine grain, warm tone and high durability meet both aesthetic and all practical aspects.

The same stone is repeated on the kitchen island, which is conceived as a separate block and almost acts as a sculptural object in the space. The dining table in walnut wood, which is complemented by the Pavilion dining chairs from &Tradition, then connects naturally from the island. Nicole brought a light playfulness to the generous space with Ferm Living pendant lights in different but coordinated shapes from the Collect collection, so as not to disturb its tranquil character.

Nicole Macháček has managed to create an interior that honours and combines materials that are friendly to the villa's inhabitants and to nature, and that feels very contemporary, but certainly not so out of fashion after a few years.
