The pendant lamp is part of the Hashira collection, which consists of various Japanese-style lamp designs. The elegant collection was designed by Norm Architects for Menu. The cylindrical shape of the lamps is inspired by traditional Japanese lanterns. The name of the collection, Hashira, which means column in Japanese, is in the same vein.
The lamp is handmade from linen, which diffuses a pleasant warm light. When lit, a stabilising grid is visible, which adds a certain structure to the design of the luminaire.
